Hi Everyone,
We have started our Medieval Times unit in ELA and Art. Students have had fun drawing pictures of knights (free handed) and castles. We are reading a novel together as a group during silent reading titled Knights of the Kitchen Table. We will be starting a webquest right away that will give students the opportunity to use the netbooks during ELA.
In Math, we are concluding our first unit (Patterns and Relations). Our test will be on Monday.
Also, just a reminder that book reports are due on Friday. Students are expected to complete a book report on the book they have been reading and recording for the home reading program.

Hi Everyone,
It was nice to meet so many parents at the BBQ on Tuesday. Thanks to those who came out. If I have not had the chance to meet you yet, please stop by the school at some point so we can have a chat! We had a great week this week. We started our Medieval Times unit in ELA. The students seem to be very excited about it. It is a fun unit that will allow students to put their creative hats on. We are working through our first unit in Math (Patterns and Equations). Just a reminder to keep your child reading each night and recording in their log. I check these at the end of each week. It is important to keep students reading so they have a book to do their report on at the end of the month.
Thanks,
Mr. Coffin

Hi Everyone,
We have started all of our units in all subject. Students are currently finishing up a newspaper article about themselves in ELA. In Science, we have been talking about electricity safety. After reviewing multiplication and division, we are finally able to begin our textbook practice. We have also started a major webquest in Social Studies called, "What does Canada look like?".
Book orders are due tomorrow, as well as we will have our first weekly spelling test.
So far, I have been extremely impressed with the work ethic of the Grade 5 class. Everyone is working hard to get homework done and stay on task.
Enjoy your evening!
