Our classroom party will take place on Tuesday afternoon. In the morning, we are hosting the assembly with Grade 6P. In the afternoon we will be watching the movie Holes.

Monday

I hope everyone had a great weekend.

So far today we have learned about multiplying two digit numbers by two digit numbers. We will be practicing this for quite some time. Take the time to practice this at home as well! It can be something as simple as writing a multiplication fact on a sticky note that reads 25 x 17 and sticking it on the fridge - or the milk!!

Here is the link to our spelling words on spelling city. Click here. Students need to search username, then type jarcoff to find the list.

Report cards go out today. I look forward to seeing everyone at interviews this week!

Halloween Reminder

Hi All,

Just a reminder that tomorrow we will be celebrating our Halloween festivities. I hope everyone received the notes about who was asked to bring food for certain parties throughout the year.

We will be having our classroom lunch tomorrow. Students may bring a small snack to school, however, there will be a sufficient amount of food for lunch. If your child needs to go home to get his or her costume on, they may do that after we eat our lunch around 12:00 (if you like). If not, we can save them some lunch here at school.

We do have a math test tomorrow that students should really study hard for tonight.

In the afternoon, we will be hosting activities for the Grades 1/2 classes. We will be showing Gremlins in Mr. Schnell's classroom during this time as well for students who are not required to help in the gym. Please read the note in your child's agenda about this tonight.

Enjoy your evening!

Medieval Times

Hi Everyone,

We have started our Medieval Times unit in ELA and Art. Students have had fun drawing pictures of knights (free handed) and castles. We are reading a novel together as a group during silent reading titled Knights of the Kitchen Table. We will be starting a webquest right away that will give students the opportunity to use the netbooks during ELA.

In Math, we are concluding our first unit (Patterns and Relations). Our test will be on Monday.

Also, just a reminder that book reports are due on Friday. Students are expected to complete a book report on the book they have been reading and recording for the home reading program.

September 13 - 17

Hi Everyone,
It was nice to meet so many parents at the BBQ on Tuesday. Thanks to those who came out. If I have not had the chance to meet you yet, please stop by the school at some point so we can have a chat! We had a great week this week. We started our Medieval Times unit in ELA. The students seem to be very excited about it. It is a fun unit that will allow students to put their creative hats on. We are working through our first unit in Math (Patterns and Equations). Just a reminder to keep your child reading each night and recording in their log. I check these at the end of each week. It is important to keep students reading so they have a book to do their report on at the end of the month.

Thanks,
Mr. Coffin
